Love lost. Justin Hartley filed for divorce from his wife of two years, Days of Our Lives star Chrishell Hartley (née Stause), In Touch can confirm. The hunky 42-year-old This Is Us star turned in his paperwork on November 22, according to the Los Angeles Superior Court online docket. The couple began dating in early 2014, but after five seemingly happy years together, they decided to call it quits.
Justin cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split, and lists July 8 as the date of separation on his divorce docs. Interestingly, he posted a touching birthday message for Chrishell, 38, two weeks after that, on July 21. “Let’s all wish this young gem of a human a very happy birthday! To many more years of love and laughs!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY @chrishellhartley,” he wrote beside a smiling photo of the Selling Sunset star. It was the last time he posted a photo of her on his feed.
On the other hand, Chrishell posted multiple photos with Justin at a Golden Globes party just one week before his filing. The former couple looks happy and cozy in the pics, and Justin can even be seen rocking his wedding ring.
This will be the second divorce for Justin, who was formerly married to his Passions co-star Lindsay Korman. They were married from 2004 to 2012, and share one daughter: Isabella Justice Hartley, 15. However, Lindsay was the one to file to end that marriage, and she cited “irreconcilable differences.” Luckily, the two have been able to remain amicable and work together to coparent Isabella. Chrishell and Justin share no children, but she seemed to enjoy her parenting roll in Isabella’s life as well, even including “#wife” and “#stepmom” in her Instagram bio and sharing a photo with her stepdaughter in late October.
Chrishell has never been married before Justin, but she did have a failed engagement to Glee star Matthew Morrison. The couple was engaged from 2006 to 2007, but it doesn’t sound like things ended on the best terms. In a 2010 interview with Star, Chrishell blamed trust issues for their breakup. “I decided to break off our engagement because I believed he was seeing other people and just wasn’t ready to fully commit,” she said.
We hope Justin and Chrishell can remain just as friendly as he is with Lindsay!
