Happy Birthday, Joy-Anna! The ‘Counting On’ Star Celebrated Her 21st with A Ton Of Food — And Not A Drop Of Alcohol
Ever heard of a 21st birthday party without any alcohol? Welp, now you have! Joy-Anna Duggar rang in the monumental milestone on Sunday, Oct. 28, with her sister, Jill — seemingly without a single drop of wine… or even a wine cooler. Fans quickly began commenting on the pic, with many wondering why the heck they didn’t see any red Solo cups. “Why do I not see any alcohol to celebrate a 21st?!” one person questioned. Of course, it didn’t take long before Duggar mega-fans dropped knowledge bombs on the commenter. “They don’t drink alcohol,” one know-it-all responded. Another added, “They’re completely against alcohol. They even say that Jesus turned water into ‘grape juice’ instead of wine. Even though they claim to take every word of the Bible literally.”
Although we can’t confirm the latter, we do know the Counting On star and her famous family abide by a long list of strict rules that includes no dancing, no front-hugging, and basically no fun. That said, Jill once revealed that you won’t see them twerking any time soon because it’ll cause, uh, urges.
“I don’t think it’s necessarily a rule,” Jill clarified during an episode of 19 and Counting. “We don’t want to stir up desires, just different things that, um, cannot be… righteously fulfilled, that cannot be, um, I don’t know, so, anyway, our family has chosen not to dance.”
When it comes to alcohol in particular, however, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger have all admitted to trying the forbidden substance. Gasp! “Not on purpose!” Jessa explained, before Jill added, “We’re really heavily involved in politics and sometimes it’s one of those fancy, ritzy events and they serve you what you think is punch and it’s not.” She continued, “You’re like ‘Oops, yeah, that wasn’t punch. That was champagne or something.'”
Luckily for Jim Bob, it sounds like Joy-Anna has so far steered clear of any adult beverages.
