Ever since 19 Kids & Counting got the axe, it’s been rare to see Josh Duggar with the rest of his family. Though they never cut ties with him privately, the Counting On crew seemed to strive to keep him out of the public eye. In the beginning of October, however, fans spotted the oldest Duggar son in photos from the family trip to Arizona as they explored the Grand Canyon. On Thursday, October 3, his sister Jana Duggar shared pictures of the large group as they visited the landmark — and Josh was there smiling along with everyone else.

In recent years, Josh, 31, seems to have been reappearing on his family’s social media accounts. In September, his wife, Anna Duggar, gave him a rare shout out on Instagram as they prepared dinner together for everyone at parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar‘s house. “Monday night (family night),” Anna, 31, wrote. “It’s becoming the favorite night of the week! Josh and I enjoyed spending time in the kitchen together making some grass-fed steak fajitas.” Later in the month, she also shared a post celebrating their anniversary — and she seemed to hint at her husband’s cheating scandal.

“11 years ago, before God, our family and friends we said, ‘I do!’ — and, my, how the past 11 years have flown by! ♥️” she shared. “The joys we’ve experienced together have far surpassed the shadows of sorrow we’ve walked through. Through it all, God’s kindness and grace has sustained us. I am thankful for the seven children He has given us together (five here/one in heaven/one due in Nov)! 💕 I love you so much, Joshua, and look forward to growing old together! (Gotta admit though … being young together is pretty fun too!)”

Though some fans praised Anna for her forgiving spirit (and so did cousin Amy Duggar), others weren’t impressed by the post. “I feel sorry for her,” one fan wrote in the comments. “I would love to know what Josh has done to make things right by you,” another wrote. “You have obviously done so much. 💜” A third simply wrote, “Love you, Anna, but I don’t get ya.”
