When Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott split with his longtime girlfriend Jacinta Kuznetsov in April, he insisted there was “no drama or negativity” — but In Touch has learned there may be more to the story. The couple may have dated for more than two years, and even shared houses in Toronto and Vega, but after they called it quits, it was only a few months before the producer found love again. By summer, she was dating Will Allen, co-owner of Montreal’s popular Burgundy Lion and Bishop & Bagg pubs, and now the couple are engaged. That’s gotta sting for the HGTV star.

Jacinta and her fiancé, who have been friends since 2012, announced their engagement on Instagram. “Thank you for your friendship for six years, my love,” the 29-year-old wrote on the social media site, sharing an album of pictures of the couple. “I am grateful we figured it all out.” Though it’s unclear exactly when their friendship became romantic, it appears from her Instagram page that the pair started dating as early as June, just two months after she and Jonathan called it quits.

Although Jonathan, 40, says he “wishes Jacinta the very best always,” this is the second big blow he’s suffered in his romantic life. He recently admitted that he felt “defeated” after going through a nasty divorce with his ex, airline-crew scheduler Kelsy Ully, in 2013. He credited that relationship, though, with helping him find love again. “I don’t think I could enjoy what I have today with Jacinta if I hadn’t gone through a failed marriage,” he told People in August 2017.

But now that Jacinta has moved on, friends speculate that dark feeling might be returning. “He’s got to feel defeated again knowing his former girlfriend is with a guy who was right under Jonathan’s nose the entire time,” a source told In Touch. After all, it’s hard to claim that there’s “no drama” when your ex gets engaged within a year of moving out of your shared house. Now we’re just hoping that the reality star is able to use this breakup as a learning experience like he did with his last.
