John Travolta Is ‘Very Focused’ on Daughter Ella’s Well-Being: ‘Natural as a Father’

John Travolta has nothing but love and respect for his beloved daughter, Ella Bleu, and a source exclusively tells In Touch that she’s front and center when it comes to his own decisions about Hollywood – as he mulls over the next phase of his life following his 70th birthday.

“For a while after Kelly Preston passed away, people close to John were getting worried about Ella, because she had to go through a lot as a young adult. It’s been a huge contrast from her childhood, when her parents were totally mainstream figures in Hollywood and she regularly walked red carpets with them,” In Touch’s source shares. “Since she lost her mom, Ella has pulled back from all that and, pretty naturally, leaned on John during this period. She hasn’t let this situation wreck her life, but she’s also stayed away from the fast crowd she grew up with in Hollywood.”

The insider added, “Of course, John always loves to work and pursue his passion for aviation, but Ella and her well-being come first and John has been very focused on her over the last year. He’s a natural as a father but that doesn’t mean he’s immune to stress.”

John, 70, Ella, 25, and his 14-year-old son, Benjamin Travolta, celebrated Mother’s Day on May 11, and the Grease actor shared a message for his late wife.

“Happy Mother’s Day Kelly! You did a great job!! We love you!” John wrote in the caption that featured a throwback cozy family photo.

“Beautiful photo. I had the privilege of interviewing Kelly a number of times over 20 years,” a fan wrote in the comments section of the post. “A stunning gracious lady who always spoke of her most celebrated roles, motherhood and wife. Her legacy lives on.”

These days, John dedicates his Instagram page to highlighting his favorite and proudest moments of his kids, especially Ella, who is booming in her modeling career.

Kelly passed away on July 12, 2020, following a two-year battle with cancer. In addition to Ella and Benjamin, Kelly and John shared a son Jett Travolta. He died at age 16 in 2009 after suffering a seizure.

In May 2024, a different source exclusively told In Touch that John started to feel “loneliness” while Ella and Benjamin gained independence.

“He’s a great dad and involved in their lives,” the second source shared at the time, later adding, “He’s often alone in that big house in Florida thinking about all the loss he’s been through. That’s a lot of pain and grief to process.”

“Everyone wants him to be happy and fall in love again,” the source continued, revealing that “Ella and Benjamin want him to start dating, but John is always making excuses.”

“He says they have to come first,” insider No. 2 revealed, “but it’s been almost four years since she passed and John still refuses to move on with his life.”

That said, John’s career has continued to maintain steadiness. The Oscar-nominated actor starred in the film High Rollers in March. The following month, John was spotted filming Cash Out 3 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
