Drama in the Duggar family! The second-oldest son in the famous family, John David Duggar, is known for flying under the radar. Compared to his brothers and sisters, it's easy to overlook John David. But, the 28-year-old reality star is making headlines after The Hollywood Gossip revealed that there's a reason why he stays in the background amongst his family's fame: He doesn't agree with father Jim Bob Duggar's actions.

According to a former employee of the Duggar family, John David has become the family's moral compass to the point where if he disagrees with something — that carries a lot of weight. "When John David doesn't want to be a part of it, then you know that it ain't right," the insider explained. "John David is a good guy, and he's in a good spot. He gets to do what he wants to do."

Lately, the Duggar son is doing everything in his power to distance himself from his father. "There are things that Jim Bob does that John doesn't think are right," the source added. "Some of his real estate transactions, some of the equipment that he buys — a lot of this stuff, Jim Bob doesn't really need, but he thinks he does."

In John David's mind, his father's spending not only clashes with their Christian values, but also could put the family in debt. Allegedly, Jim Bob is reckless with the family's finances, which has created a strain on his relationship with his son. "He'll go to an auction and he'll come home with a bucket truck that he got for $4,000, then he'll realize that it needs $8,000 worth of stuff to fix it," the source continued. "And John, he gets kind of tired of that. There's a lot of stuff that Jim Bob does that John doesn't agree with, but now that John's up and in the world, that's his right."

Meanwhile Jim Bob hates that he's losing control over his son. "[John David] is old enough now that he can pick and choose what he wants to do, and that just kills Jim Bob," the insider revealed. "Because he doesn't have that ultimate control. He's got control over the little ones while they're there, but he realizes that soon they'll be big and gone, and he'll lose that."
