One year after their Australian honeymoon, Jinger Dugger and Jeremy Vuolo‘s time down under is still sparking controversy. The Counting On stars traveled to Sydney following their wedding in November 2016 and during their time there, they got up close and personal with the “locals,” including kangaroos and koalas.

Jeremy recently shared more photos from their honeymoon on social media, and fans quickly called out the couple for interacting with the koalas. “Not sure how close you are allowed to get without special permission as they are actually quite dangerous,” one follower wrote before another added, “Makes me sick,” when asked about the throwback pics.

Despite their cute appearance, there is a good reason for concern when it comes to koalas. According to bearlife.org, wild koalas should not be approached and have sharp claws and teeth, which they will use if they feel threatened. In 2014, a South Australian was attacked by a koala while walking her two dogs. Mary Anne Forster required 12 stitches after she was bitten in the leg by the furry animal. “Obviously the koala felt very threatened because it attached itself with its mouth, jaws, to my leg and bit very hard, bit very deeply,” she told 7News Adelaide.

Seeing as Jinger and Jeremy, who are currently expecting their first child together, were at the Symbio Wildlife Park when they interacted with the koalas, it would seem they were not in any immediate danger. However, they are not the only Duggars being criticized for their Australian etiquette, or lack thereof. The family is currently in the country and fans called out the reality stars for arriving in their winter gear — when it’s summer in the Southern Hemisphere.

“Oh goodness, you won’t need those winter jackets!!!” one person laughed before another chimed in, “You are Down Under, you can take your coats off.” A third added, “Do they not teach about weather in the Southern Hemisphere in Duggar homeschool?” The Duggars are making the trip in order to “share their thoughts on family life and homeschooling, followed by tea and fellowshipping,” and will be holding a public event to interact with fans.
