Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo Name Baby Girl No. 2 Evangeline Jo: Learn the Sweet Meaning
Baby No. 2 is here and she has the perfect name! Jinger Vuolo (née Duggar) and Jeremy Vuolo welcomed their second daughter on Sunday, November 22, and they decided to call her Evangeline Jo Vuolo.
The moniker clearly has special meaning to the Counting On couple, and it suits their bundle of joy perfectly. By definition, Evangeline means “good news” or “bringer of good news.” Jo comes from Scottish origins and is often used in place of “sweetheart” or “dear.”
The infant joins her sister, Felicity, in their happy life in Los Angeles. Felicity was born on July 19, 2018, but her parents took their time revealing why they chose that name for their first child. In 2019, they stopped by Audrey and Jeremy Roloff‘s “Behind the Scenes” podcast and explained their thought process.
“We wanted something unique, but not difficult for people to spell,” Jeremy said, and there’s really no surprise that there was a religious influence as well. “It’s actually a pretty cool story — Felicity and Perpetua were two of the very early Christian martyrs in Rome,” he continued. “We have this journal of Felicity and Perpetua’s lives — Felicity was actually Perpetua’s servant girl, who was also converted — all the way up until their death. … It’s a really dramatic and incredible glimpse into early Christian martyrdom.”
Jeremy also mentioned that the name means “supreme happiness” and Jinger confirmed, “Felicity definitely lives up to her name.” So sweet!
It’s no wonder the couple was so excited to welcome another baby into the family. They announced the pregnancy news on May 28. “We are so excited,” Jinger told People at the time. “Felicity is going to have [a little] sister. Everything looks great with the baby. We’re so thankful. Had a lot of check-ups and we’re just really, really excited.”
The pair was especially excited after the struggles they experienced while trying to have a second child. In the fall of 2019, they experienced a miscarriage just one day after sharing their pregnancy news with their family. “That was very difficult and definitely a trial for us,” said Jeremy.
“Having that little one healthy in the womb, and growing strong, is so exciting,” he added. Jeremy has loved becoming a father as much as Jinger loved becoming a mom. “I had no idea how amazing being a dad would be,” he wrote alongside a photo of Felicity in April. We can only imagine their love will continue expanding now that baby No. 2 is finally here!
