Um — Jim Bob and Michelle Were Actually Allowed to Kiss and Hold Hands Because They Didn’t Court

You guys, I've got a bone to pick with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar: They never courted. ICYMI, the Counting On stars have a strict no-fun policy in place for their 19 offspring — dating with the intention of marriage. Doesn't sound so bad, right? Well, except for the fact that they don't get any of the benefits like making out and holding hands. In a recently resurfaced clip from 2014, their daughter, Jill, spilled the beans and revealed her lovebird parents were getting freaky prior to tying the knot.

"So my parents, they um, did the traditional dating," the now 26-year-old dished. "So when they were engaged, they spent a lot of time alone together. They said they saved intimacy for marriage, but they kissed."

So my life is a lie. Got it.

Jill added, however, that they regretted their promiscuous decision. Yeah, OK. "They wish they would've saved more of each other for themselves, and so, I think it's just neat to see the wisdom that they've spoken to our lives." She added that her parents said courting is a "neat idea." Insert eye roll emoji here.

If you haven't noticed, the Duggars get engaged, like, really, really quickly, and fans think it's because they have, uh, urges. Makes sense. Reddit users were so shocked by their rushed relationships that they even started a thread about it. "Kendra [Caldwell] and Lauren [Swanson] said they were surprised" about getting engaged, "which makes me wonder if the boys talk to Jim Bob about having feelings or desires about women and Jim Bob doesn’t want another scandal so he goes and finds them a wife," one person wrote.

Another quickly chimed in, "I always had a suspicion of this too. Between Josh and Jill both having been quoted by others as 'hormonal' and 'boy crazy' respectively, and then their rather immediate courtships and marriages… it wouldn't surprise me if Jim Bob uses his local celebrity status for that."

Whatever the case, I'm still too distracted by JB and Michelle's previous life of sin. I also found out recently that Shelly, can I call her that?, used to wear bikinis, and tbh, I don't think I've fully recovered.
