Dang, girl! Jill Duggar used to wear only long skirts and dresses while she was growing up, which were the rules that her parents Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar put in place for her daughters. Since leaving the house and getting married to Derick Dillard, though, Jill’s been experimenting with her style. Over the last year, she’s even been spotted wearing pants plenty of times — but we didn’t think she’d do it in front of mom Michelle!

Now, the Duggar daughter is flaunting her fashion sense. On Monday, Sept. 24, she shared a video of her and her sisters celebrating Michelle’s birthday with her at Jill’s place. And the 27-year-old must’ve figured “my house, my rules,” because in the clip she’s wearing a cute pair of skinny jeans. It’s not a shocking move, but it is suprising that she’d feel comfortable in the clothes while around her mom, who used to insist that the girls always wear skirts — even when playing in the snow.

In the past, Michelle has explained why she and Jim Bob decided that skirts and dresses were the most appropriate clothing for their girls. “Jim Bob and I had a conversation at that point and I said to him, I really feel like the Lord is impressing upon me that I should be modest in what I wear. And also, that I really should be defining who I am as a woman by choosing to wear dresses and skirts,” she told TLC in 2013. “As we studied as a family, we found we could come up with our idea of what we thought modesty was, but we really wanted to see what the scriptures said about it. Our interpretation was that from the neck down to the knee should be covered.”

Now that some of her kids are adults, though, it seems she’s happy to let them make those choices for themselves. And she certainly doesn’t seem too bothered by Jill’s skin-tight style! But hey, how could she be that upset with Jill when her daughter’s simultaneously giving her birthday brownies? That’s sure to heal any wounds — even if the brownies did look like a pan of dirt. Then again, maybe she’s just too busy to be bothered. By the looks of it, Michelle is a little preoccupied with the little kids around her — especially Josie practically crumbling under the weight of her nephew, Jill’s son Samuel. Either way, it seems like the family had a great time celebrating all together. It must be in their jeans — er, genes.
