Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard have been accused of exploiting the donations given to them for their mission trip by fans of their former reality show, 19 Kids and Counting.
In a blog post written by the father-of-one, 26, he explained some of the donations to their tax-exempt organization, Dillard Family Ministries, went to funding their trip with five-month-old Israel to attend cousin Amy Duggar’s wedding, adding that the donations also went to a month-long stay in Arkansas to “enjoy time with family and friends.”
Now, fans are furious that they are funding the family’s “vacation.”
On the couple’s official Facebook page, one person wrote, “Never been to your page, but had to say that the scam you are running for money from unsuspecting people is just outrageous.”
Even fans of the couple expressed outrage that they were “cashing in” on the donations.
“I have watched your show for years. I thought to myself, ‘Good family.’ I felt hopeful that maybe we have people that the new generation can look up to,” one such fan wrote.
“I always spoke highly of your family and your show. But the truth has come out. You are frauds.”
Neither Jill nor her husband have yet to comment on the allegations.
