Jessica Simpson is going back to her roots!

‘In Touch Weekly’ has learned that the fashion mogul and mother of two wants to return to the music business.

“She’s told friends she’d love to record another album. It’s her New Year’s resolution,” a source close to the star tells ‘In Touch,’ adding that she’s already begun putting together a team to relaunch her music career.

And Jess, who hasn’t released an album since 2010, is even building a studio at home so she can work near hubby Eric Johnson, 35, and kids Maxwell, 2, and Ace, 19 months.

“The plan is to get the new album recorded this year and go on tour the following,” adds the source. “Jess has missed performing so much. She’s very excited.”
