They grow up so fast! Jessa Duggar and her husband Ben Seewald celebrated their son Spurgeon‘s second birthday on Sunday, Nov. 5 and Jessa took to Instagram to share some photos from Spurgy’s special day — and she penned a touching tribute to her firstborn son! Watch the video below to see Jessa’s birthday message to her son Spurgeon!

Of course, Jessa shares a lot with her baby boy, but they have one super special thing in common — their birthdays are within one day of each other! Jessa spent her 23rd birthday in labor with her first child, which means that Jessa’s mom Michelle Duggar was also in labor on November 4, 1992! Jessa decided to pay tribute to the super strong connection that her birthday and Nov. 4 has for her, her mom, and her son in a sweet message on Instagram for her birthday.

“A quarter of a century ago, this beautiful woman gave birth to a daughter — her biggest baby, 9 [pounds], 15 [ounces],” Jessa wrote in the caption of a throwback photo of her mom, taken moments after she was born. “And on this same day, 23 years later, that daughter would be in labor with her first child. When my mom finally arrived as I was laboring to give birth to Spurgeon, the first words out of my mouth were ‘HOW ON EARTH DID YOU DO THIS 19 TIMES [sic]
?!'”

Nov 4th, 1992– A quarter of a century ago, this beautiful woman gave birth to a daughter– her biggest baby, 9lbs 15oz. And on this same day, 23 years later, that daughter would be in labor with her first child. When my mom finally arrived as I was laboring to give birth to Spurgeon, the first words out of my mouth were "HOW ON EARTH DID YOU DO THIS 19 TIMES?!" And I'm pretty sure the next words from my mouth were me telling Ben that I wanted the epidural after all, and P.S. "We won't be having any more kids." Once my baby was born though, I understood the reality of these words of Jesus: "When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world." – John 16:21 Thank you, Mama, for laying down your life for me, not only on this day 25 years ago, but also every day of raising me thereafter. I know I was probably your most strong-willed and hard-headed child, and it took a lot of patience to deal with me and love me through all my craziness. Thank you for reading the Bible to us, memorizing scriptures with us, and for showing us Christ from a young age. You are my hero, and I thank God that I get to call you my Mama.

Jessa went on to share more details about spending her 23rd birthday in labor, and she even admitted that she told her hubby that she didn’t want to have any more kids. But Jessa eventually changed her mind and she quoted a bible verse that helped her overcome her fear of having more children. The couple welcomed their second child — a son named Henry — back in February.
