They’ve been talking about it for almost five years now, but are Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald finally adopting? Fans have been speculating that Jessa is pregnant for months, but she’s been super weird (and unconvincing) about dealing with the rumors. Now fans think that could be because she is expecting… just in a different way than they originally thought!

“I definitely think so,” said a fan on reddit after someone suggested that they might be going through the adoption process. “They’ve been talking about adoption since the beginning and I think they understand that it will be easier to do now with only two children than later when they have however many more.” Another said, “I think that they’re also concerned about getting Henry’s allergies or any of his sensitivities like that solved. But maybe all those things add up to them deciding it’s God’s way of telling them to wait and adopt.”

The theory would actually make sense, since Jessa has waited longer than we’ve come to expect to announce another pregnancy, and she and Ben have been very vocal about their desire to adopt since before they even got married in November 2014. “We have many friends who have walked this road, so we have seen firsthand the amazing power of adoption,” she told Us Weekly in 2016. “There are so many kids out there who are longing for the love of a family, and we feel strongly about opening our hearts and our home to welcome them in.” They actually started looking into it before Jessa got pregnant with Spurgeon, but once she did she put the process on hold.

When they did an interview in 2017, they admitted they still had adoption on the brain. “Ben and I still have a deep desire to adopt, and it’s something we continue to look into,” Jessa told People. “We’ve also talked about fostering to adopt.”

A few years ago on Counting On, Jessa revealed that adoption counselors said she should wait until Spurgeon was nine months old before adopting. However, Spurgy was only six months old when Jessa got pregnant with baby No. 2 Henry, so that set them back even longer. Now, Henry is almost a year and a half old, so they may have begun the process of adoption toward the end of 2017. Of course, this is all speculation, but it would kind of explain everything!
