When it comes to modern-day music, the Duggar family considers it all pretty much off-limits. Every now and then, they might make an exception for some Christmas covers, like Josiah and Lauren did, but that’s about it. As one of the family’s in-laws, though, Jeremy Vuolo grew up with a whole different set of rules. And apparently, in his house, modern music wasn’t a problem. Because as it turns out, Jinger Duggar‘s husband is actually a total stan for the Backstreet Boys.

In a recent ~Twitter fight~ with a Christian blogger named Samuel Sey, the pastor revealed his passion for the boy band. “After careful deliberation and painstakingly eliminating other fantastic options, I’m happy to declare ‘Shape Of My Heart’ the greatest Backstreet Boys song of all time,” Samuel wrote. And Jeremy just couldn’t let that stand. Instead, he argued that one of their best-known songs is their best all around — and that it’s popular for a reason.

“This is disappointing,” Jeremy responded. “I was really convinced of your discernment, bro, but… really — ‘Shape of My Heart’? Everyone agrees that BSB’s greatest hit is ‘I Want It That Way’!” The back-and-forth escalated even further after that. Samuel joked that the hit tune was “the most overrated Backstreet Boys song,” and Jeremy just lost it. Instead of firing back, though, he responded in a simple, effective way. By blocking his friend.

Of course, he was just joking. But even that wasn’t the end of things. The argument continued as another Christian blogger, Chris Land, joined in. He insisted that he was “not aware” that anyone was still listening to the boy band these days, which prompted Jeremy to fire back, “I was not aware anyone stopped listening to the Backstreet Boys.” He also insisted that, as someone who “lived through the ’90s,” there was no way that his friend was never a fan.

Now, though, we can’t stop imagining Jeremy rocking out at home to hits like “Everybody” and “As Long As You Love Me.” What we need to know, though, is whether or not Jinger’s started jamming along, too. Hey, now that she’s married, she and her husband get to set her own media rules! She watches The Crown! And considering what a big fan the pastor apparently is, we imagine that his wife must’ve gotten pretty involved in the boy band scene too.

The only question left is whether or not she’s getting a chance to go relive the whole ’90s boy band scene … and, of course, where she stands on the epic Backstreet Boys vs. *NYSNC rivalry. But, by the way, Jeremy — you’re actually wrong. The best Backstreet Boys song is “The Call.” There. We said it.
