Considering the fact that Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez finally got engaged this weekend, it should’ve been some of the best few days of the singer’s life. But before it had even been 48 hours, there was some serious rain on their parade. And we don’t mean just a drizzle — we’re talking full-blown thunderstorms. Because after A-Rod popped the question on Saturday, March 9, fellow former baseball player Jose Canseco was accusing him of cheating on Sunday, March 10. But with rumors flying that the allegations may just be born out of the two athletes’ complicated past, J. Lo isn’t letting any of it get to her.

“Jennifer isn’t going to let some bitter rivalry between A-Rod and Jose spoil her special day,” a source close to the couple told In Touch. “She’s strong and no matter what she’s thrown, as far as shocking accusations about her fiancé and upcoming marriage, she handles it with grace. She’s paying it no mind. She loves A-Rod and she’s going to marry him. Jennifer can weather anything.”

Of course, the allegations are pretty messy. Jose accused A-Rod of “cheating” with his “ex-wife Jessica,” even claiming, “I was there a few months back with her when he called her on her phone.” And to back up his words, he even continued, “I am willing to take a polygraph to prove that what I’m saying about Alex Rodriguez is 100% accurate.” This also isn’t the first time that Jose has suggested there’s something going on between A-Rod and his ex-wife.

According to the New York Post, Jose made similar allegations in 2008. “I believe they had an affair,” he said during a book signing. “I’m pretty sure of it. I spoke with Alex and he denied it, but the way he denied it, it wasn’t reassuring. I spoke to my ex-wife last year about it and I’m not going to say she acknowledged that they did, but she did not say that they did not.”

He opened up about the potential relationship in his book, Vindicated, where he also dropped the steroid bombshell about the now-retired Yankees player. Given their history, it makes sense that there would be hard feelings now — but given the fact that the steroid allegation was eventually proven true, who knows what could be real now?

In Touch reached out to Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez’s teams for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication.
