It’s the end of an era. Jenelle Evans has been associated with the Teen Mom franchise since 2011, but now MTV has decided to cut all ties with the reality star. Even so, Jenelle “respects” the network’s decision to stop covering her story next season, a source exclusively tells In Touch.

Jenelle, 27, is now “taking this time to focus on her future projects, her marriage and her kids,” the insider revealed. There’s been no shortage of drama surrounding the reality star after news broke that her husband, David Eason, shockingly shot and killed their family dog Nugget for “snapping” at their two-year-old daughter, Ensley. Since then, fans have been begging MTV to take action.

So, what does this mean for David and Jenelle’s marriage? Jenelle previously revealed that she and her husband were not on “talking terms” after the ordeal, since she was so upset at him. The reality star also said that divorce was “in [her] thoughts,” but she hadn’t made any decision about the fate of their relationship. Now, it seems the pair is still trying to work through their differences. The insider exclusively tells us, “Jenelle and David are planning to go to marriage counseling.”

Even though there was major public outcry about the dog killing incident, fans were still surprised when the news about Jenelle’s future on Teen Mom was announced on May 7. “MTV ended its relationship with David Eason over a year ago in February 2018 and has not filmed any new episodes of Teen Mom 2 with him since,” an MTV spokesperson told Us Weekly, while also addressing Jenelle in the same statement. “Additionally, we have stopped filming with Jenelle Eason as of April 6, 2019 and have no plans to cover her story in the upcoming season.”

After hearing about MTV’s decision, some of Jenelle’s costars took to social media to share their thoughts on the matter. Briana DeJesus tweeted “wow,” while Jeremy Calvert wrote, “Reality is hitting NC hard this evening!” Jenelle will still be featured on season 9 of Teen Mom 2, which airs on MTV Mondays at 9 p.m. ET.
