Candid confession. Jeff Lewis spoke out about his consumption of alcohol during a new episode of his Sirius XM radio show, Jeff Lewis Live, revealing that he has been “leaning on” booze over the past two years to deal with the challenges he’s been facing both publicly and privately.

“Last night, I made a commitment to myself that I was gonna go one night without having a drink, and I didn’t do that. And now today I’m beating myself up with guilt,” the Flipping Out star, 49, said while filming on Tuesday, November 26.

The Bravo alum admitted that all of the personal trials and tribulations he’s dealt with over the past 24 months have led him to indulge in liquor more frequently. “I am leaning a little bit on alcohol, because it numbs the pain, it helps me with my stress, it helps me relax, and it’s become a routine frankly,” he explained.

As he opened up about his vice, Jeff added, “I just admitted I was a functioning alcoholic. This is a big show for me.”

The Orange County native also mentioned how he has been trying to hold himself accountable for his drinking habits, saying he was “mad” at himself for not staying sober the other evening.

However, Jeff did come up with a solution that may help. “I’m thinking maybe I just need to remove all of the alcohol in my house,” he continued. “I think that would literally probably cut out alcohol consumption by 60 percent, because I drink home alone.”

“I become nicer when I drink. I’m so happy. I should drink during the day,” he quipped during the interview. “Oh, right that’s not the direction we’re going.” The TV personality said that it’s “scary” to give up booze entirely, but he’s hoping to lead a healthier life.

It’s certainly been a tumultuous few years for Jeff, as he parted ways with his partner of a decade, Gage Edward, in January 2019. Even though they started off with an amicable coparenting arrangement for their daughter, Monroe, the exes did get lawyers involved at a later point in time.

Luckily, the former flames are testing an arrangement now which allows their 3-year-old daughter to see both of her dads more often, because it involves her being transferred from one parent to the other every few days.

So, what’s next for Jeff on the television front? Well, his future on Flipping Out remains a mystery. After the dramatic last episode of season 11, Bravo executive producer Andy Cohen said, “It felt like a series finale.”

Time will tell!
