It’s been a rough year for singer-songwriter Jana Kramer and her NFL alum husband, Mike Caussin. Though the couple has been through a lot in their time together — including a split after the football player was allegedly caught having an affair with an escort in 2016 — recently they have a few more challenges to overcome. On the One Tree Hill star’s podcast, “Whine Down,” she opened up about her marriage and how things have been going lately. And, of course, her husband chimed in to clear the air as they went through it together. This is a couple that’s committed to making things work, even when things get awkward on air.

The 35-year-old started the conversation off, revealing that her sex addict husband had suffered a “massive relapse.” According to the couple, Mike, 32, has been in treatment for nearly three years now, but that doesn’t mean he’s been without his bumps in the road. Though he’s been sober for a while now, he fell off the wagon about a year ago. But what does that mean, exactly? Well, it’s almost more dramatic than it sounds.

“It wasn’t physical out of the marriage, but it was something where the action was basically … We’re just basically happy that someone didn’t show up,” Jana revealed on the show. Mike agreed, chiming in, “I’m not minimizing cheating because we have other things in Jan and I’s discussion of boundaries that’s cheating. But no sex outside of the marriage. I just want people to be clear that there wasn’t any other affair since that moment.”

But based on what Jana said, though, it sounds like there was some attempted cheating — and the only reason nothing happened is because she was quick to catch up to her husband. “[It was] something he should not have done that was in a circle that was very red, like, bad and could have been awful. … I showed up at the hotel instead,” she said. “If you really want to know.”

Since then, they’ve been working on their marriage together — for their sake and for the sake of their kids, 3-year-old daughter Jolie and 3-month-old son Jace. “We’ve been through some s–t,” Mike said. But the good news is that if they can talk about it freely now, it sounds like they’re back on the right track.
