Is Jana Duggar Shading Her Sisters by Saying She Won’t “Get Married to the First One That Comes Along”?
It’s hard to be the odd one out in your family, and it’s even harder when you’re a 28-year-old Duggar gal with no husband. Jana Duggar still being single has lead to tons of speculation about her love life, including the theory that she might be a lesbian. However, in this clip from 2016, Jana admits that she does want a husband, she just hasn’t met the right guy. And fans think she’s actually shading her siblings for not being pickier when it comes to their mates!
When a producer asked a 26-year-old Jana where she sees herself in five years, she seems to choke up a little bit. “I don’t really know what the next five years look like,” she said. “I guess I still have hopes and dreams of well, maybe I’ll meet the one and get married and have kids and stuff. There have been different guys come along and ask but yeah it’s just not… they haven’t been the right one.”
And while Jana is more than happy to wait for the right one, it seems a little like she thinks her siblings may have rushed it. “It’s just one of those things, I’m like… I’m not just out to get married to the first one that comes along. I mean sometimes it can be tempting, like ‘Oh I really want to get married.’ In those moments where its like, your siblings that are married and have little ones, they’re like going out on dates together. It’s like this weird in-between stage. I’m not a younger one, but I’m not an older married one with kids. It’s just staying busy with where God has me right now and being content in this place and learning as much as I can.”
Some fans took her comment as direct shade to her sisters that married much younger. Jana’s sisters certainly didn’t hold out very long. Joy-Anna was just 19 when she married Austin, Jill was 23 when she tied the knot with Derick, Jinger was 22 when she married Jeremy, Jessa was 22 when she married Ben, and Joseph wed Kendra when he was 23 and she was 19. We don’t blame Jana for waiting and making sure she gets a good one!
