’16 and Pregnant’ Alum Izabella Tovar Officially Divorcing Husband Jairo Rodriguez
After weeks of speculation, Izabella Tovar has confirmed that she is divorcing her husband Jairo Rodriguez. The 16 and Pregnant alum shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, revealing why the couple decided to split after less two years of marriage.
“Jairo and I are separated and have been for a few months now. Unfortunately, our marriage didn’t work out and we are getting divorced,” she wrote. “There are many factors that went into this decision but none that need to be shared publicly at this time. We wish each other the best and are working on our co-parenting relationship.”
She continued, “Even though I am sharing this publicly it is still a very personal decision. I would appreciate if negative opinions and comments not be posted here. I understand this is not a decision that everyone agrees with but this is my life and this is what happened. Thank you in advance for understanding.”
Izabella has been with Jairo since she was 14 years old and appeared on the MTV series when she was pregnant with the couple’s son Enrique, 7. They became engaged in 2011 and welcomed daughter Anastazia in 2014. Due to their long history and being one of only a handful of 16 and Pregnant couples who were still together, fans are obviously devastated by the news.
“Sorry to hear this but wish you and Jairo all the best for the future. You both are great parents,” one fan wrote, before another added, “I’m so sorry to hear that! Praying for you guys as well as your kids. Everything happens for a reason. I wish you guys the best.” In 2016, Izabella became the first girl from the show to graduate from college with a bachelor’s degree — and despite the divorce, she is staying positive.
“My entire life can be explained in one sentence… It didn’t go as planned, and that’s okay,” she recently captioned a smiling selfie. We’re thinking about Izabella and Jairo as they navigate this new chapter in their lives.
