Ya heard?! There have been a ton of rumors and speculation surrounding the 2019 Super Bowl halftime show, but Cardi B just shut down one of the most exciting ones. Many fans speculated that it would make total sense for the rapper to make a guest appearance during Maroon 5’s performance for their hit song “Girls Like You” on Sunday, February 3, but Cardi revealed the reason why she decided not to participate at all during the event.

“It wouldn’t be the perfect time,” the 26-year-old told Entertainment Tonight about performing at halftime with Maroon 5. “But I know me and Maroon 5, we gonna have a lot of performances coming [up], especially because that song just means so much to me.”

“When I was pregnant and me having a girl inside of me and hearing the song, I teared up a couple of times,” she continued. “Adam [Levine] probably don’t even know that, but it’s real.”

Many Super Bowl halftime headliners invite fellow artists to guest appearances, so that’s why fans were hoping to see Cardi take the stage with the “Payphone” rockers. In 2016, Coldplay invited Beyoncé and Bruno Mars to perform with them, and in 2015, Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott made guest appearances during Katy Perry‘s performance.

But even though Cardi won’t be performing during halftime, fans will still get to see her face during the Super Bowl. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper will be featured in a Pepsi commercial with The Office star Steve Carell and fellow rapper Lil Jon. The hilarious commercial, which leaked online ahead of the big game, is set in a diner and features Lil Jon and Cardi as they both perform their hilarious “OK” catchphrases.

The former Love & Hip Hop star is also still a part of the Super Bowl festivities in Atlanta. On Saturday, February 2, she performed at the Fanatics Super Bowl Party at College Football Hall of Fame.
