If You’re Going to Get Engaged to a Duggar, Prepare for It to Happen Really, Really Quickly

When it comes to the Duggar family, they waste no time having babies — it takes them 13.75 months on average between courtship and a pregnancy announcement. However, the time span between a courtship —the period when a couple develops serious feelings that will eventually lead to marriage — and an engagement happens even faster. Most recently, we've celebrated Josiah Duggar, who proposed to his girlfriend, Lauren Swanson after just two months of courting — and his siblings have followed a similar track record. Josiah most recently popped the question to Lauren on March 5, 2018, after courting for only two months. He announced the engagement on Instagram and wrote, "I feel like the most blessed guy on earth ?… Lauren said YES! God definitely opened our eyes in his perfect timing to show us how we complete each other. The more time I spend with Lauren the more I realize how I can't live without her. There's no one else I'd rather spend my days and grow old with! #engaged #weddingplanningbegins."

While the pair got engaged rather quickly, they have actually been friends for years. Lauren even made a guest appearance on 19 Kids and Counting.

Jill Duggar and Derrick Dillard started courting during their two week trip to Nepal in November 2013 and just four months later on March 29, 2014, they were engaged. It was less than a year after they started dating that Jill and Derrick were married and announced her first pregnancy.

Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald may have actually had the longest courtship of the Duggar siblings. The pair started seriously dating on Sept. 16, 2013 and Ben popped the question 11 months later on Aug. 15, 2014. These two are now happily married and parents of Spurgeon, 2, and Henry, 1.

While Jinger Duggar might actually be the most controversial sibling when it comes to her style — she was recently rocked a mini skirt — her courting timeline turned heads as well. Her now husband, Jeremy Vuolo, put a ring on her finger just ONE MONTH after they started their courtship on June 20, 2016.

Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth just welcomed a baby boy, Gideon Forsyth, but their love story started on Nov. 15, 2016. Just four months later they were engaged on March 3, 2017!

Joseph Duggar and Kendra Caldwell started courting in March 2017 after he asked her father for his blessing. They shared the news with People and Joe said, "We are so excited to share the news with others that we are courting. Our families are close friends through church and this has allowed Kendra and me to get to know each other. She’s the best!"

It was just two months later that he popped the question for marriage. The couple is currently expecting their first child, a baby boy.

Josh Duggar, the oldest of the Duggar siblings, has been married to Anna Duggar for about a decade now despite his alleged infidelity and confirmed molestation scandal. While there isn't a specific timeline of how long these two were courting before he popped the question in 2008, they met for the first time two years prior in 2006.
