The Mama June: From Not to Hot star fired back at followers who told her to “stop acting black.” Watch the video above to hear why she thinks the latest “controversy” is totally ridiculous.

“Honey the last thing I am is black honey… I’m white,” she told her followers. “Look at my face, hun. I’m white… And I want to know how the f–k you act a color? You wake up one day and think hmmm let’s see, I’m gonna be purple. Ho, you can’t act a color! You can be a color, but you can’t act a color.”

Is Honey Boo Boo woke? Leave it to the reality star to continually surprise her fans. The Shade Room‘s Instagram account posted her video — and judging from people’s comments… followers agree with the 12-year-old celeb’s points. “She’s southern. This is how southerners speak. Some people need to get educated lol,” one follower wrote. Another added, “And I don’t understand how is she acting black because I’m black and I don’t talk like that help me understand.”

Honey Boo Boo rose to fame on TLC’s reality series Toddlers & Tiaras because of her colorful personality. Sure, she has a distinct way of speaking that may be more common in her home state of Georgia, but that doesn’t mean she’s “acting black.” Especially since as she pointed out in the video, you can’t act a color. “She got a point but come on sis you know what that comment meant,” another follower wrote. Way to go Honey Boo Boo for combatting a stereotype. Now, can we just let her live?
