Mommy dearest part two? Gypsy Rose Blanchard is currently serving a 10-year sentence for murdering her mom Dee Dee, who infamously faked her medical conditions, but that’s not stopping her from strengthening her relationship with her stepmom. In fact, she reportedly asked her dad’s wife to be her stepmom!

Laura Pitre, Dee Dee’s stepmom, recently revealed that Gypsy keeps in touch with her father Ron Blanchard and his wife Kristy from behind bars. Laura gets regular updates on the jailed 26-year-old from the couple, who told her Gypsy asked for permission to call her stepmom “mom.”

“She said, ‘You’re going to adopt me?’” Laura told Radar Online. “And Kristy said, ‘Oh yes, I’d be more than happy to adopt you.’” In case you were wondering, adult adoptions are allowed in the state of Louisiana — where the couple lives.

Gypsy Rose made headlines in 2015 after her mom was found stabbed to death in their Missouri home. Gypsy, along with her boyfriend at the time Nicholas Godejohn, were arrested and Gypsy ultimately pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. However, she claims she suffered years of abuse from her mom, who made her believe she was suffering from leukemia and muscular dystrophy, among other illnesses, and had her wheelchair-bound and on a feeding tube.

“The prison that I was living in before, with my mom, it’s, like, I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t have friends. I couldn’t go outside, you know, and play with friends or anything,” Gypsy told 20/20 earlier this year. “Over here, I feel like I’m freer in prison than with living with my mom. Because now, I’m allowed to … just live like a normal woman.”

Gypsy went on to claim her boyfriend was the one who ultimately murdered her mother. “There’s a big difference between someone who asks someone to kill someone and someone that actually does it,” Gypsy explained. “Because I would never kill somebody. I would never physically go through with killing somebody. I can’t.”

She continued, “All I could hope is that wherever she is, that she still loves me in some small way. And I want her to know that I am sorry. I am so sorry.”
