Trouble in paradise! The Real Housewives of Orange Country star Gina Kirschenheiter filed a protective order against her estranged husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, on Monday, June 24, in Orange County Superior Court, In Touch can confirm. Just two days prior, Matt was arrested on suspicions relating to domestic violence, In Touch can also confirm.

In the court docket, it revealed that the blonde beauty requested a domestic violence restraining order, and an emergency hearing was held on Monday. The Blast was the first to report the news. It is not clear whether or not the restraining order was granted.

According to jail records, Matt, 35, was arrested on Saturday, June 22, and booked into an Orange County jail. He has not officially been charged with a crime. He was released the next morning on Sunday, June 23, around 1 a.m., and his bail was $0. It’s unclear what the domestic violence allegations were.

It’s interesting timing since the reality starlet, 35, just gushed about her ex on his birthday — 14 days ago — sparking rumors that the two were getting back together. “Happy birthday to the man who has held my hand for the last 14 years despite the ups and downs,” she wrote on Instagram on June 11. “Thanks for being the best father to our kids and the best friend a girl could ask for. Wouldn’t want to take on this crazy life with anyone else. Like you said, ‘I’m your person, and you’re mine.’ Happy birthday, Matthew.”

Even her costars couldn’t help but leave some nice comments about their potential relationship. Vicki Gunvalson wrote, “So sweet, and I’m so happy for you,” while Lizzie Rovsek added, “You two are gorgeous together!!!!”

Gina filed for divorce back in April 2018, and viewers got to see her interact with her ex on the show. Gina and Matt — they share three kids Nicholas, Sienna and Luca — remained very close after they went their separate ways and even continued to sleep together.

So, why exactly did the Bravo personality file for divorce in the first place? “When we moved away from Long Island, our relationship just wasn’t enough,” she previously told Andy Cohen. “It’s the little, the big, it’s everything.”

Gina explained that she wished Matt had showered her with more love. “He’s just not that person who compliments you and builds you up and makes you feel great,” she said. “I’ve never walked out of a room and had him say, ‘Oh my God, you look so beautiful.’ You know, I’ve never even really had Matt look me in the eye and tell me in a genuine way, ‘I love you.’ And I do think those things are important.”

She added, “But you know what, I see him tell my daughter [Sienna] that, and it makes me love him for that, and I’m OK with that. That’s what makes me know he’s a good person, a good father, but not meant to be my husband, and that’s it.”
