‘Million Dollar Listing New York’ Star Fredrik Eklund Is Expecting Twins Again After Heartbreaking Miscarriage
Congrats, you guys! Million Dollar Listing New York star Fredrik Eklund is expecting twins — a girl and a boy — via surrogate with husband Derek Kaplan two years after their surrogate miscarried twins in 2015.
“We’ve been blessed two times over – we’re six months pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl! It was important for us to take the time to keep the news for ourselves, but now we are ready to celebrate all the love,” the couple — who revealed the happy news on the Season 6 finale of MDLNY — shared on Instagram Thursday, Aug. 10. “We thank you for supporting us in this journey and your well wishes…. We are finally going to be dads! Finally! #grateful ????”
The exciting announcement comes just days after Fredrik opened up exclusively to In Touch about his dream of becoming a father. “I’m so looking forward to fatherhood. My whole adult life, I’ve wanted to be a father,” he said. “My brother has three kids, a lot of my really close friends have kids.”

According to the handsome real estate agent, having a child feels like the next chapter in his love story with Derek, whom he wed in February 2013. “To me, it’s sort of the natural evolution of who I will become and I can’t wait for Derek and I to have a little one of our own,” Fredrik told In Touch. “I get very emotional just talking about it.”
Before his heartbreaking loss, Fredrik had discussed his wish to be a parent — specifically, to a daughter named Milla — on MDLNY. The Sweden native shared the sad news of the miscarriage via Instagram in September 2015. “I’m sad to share we’ve had a failed pregnancy,” he wrote at the time. “I have cried so much that I can’t cry anymore. We were pregnant with twins but we’re not anymore.”

Derek is already dad to a young son named Kai, who lives in London full-time with his moms. As revealed on MDLNY, the Zimbabwean-born artist donated his sperm to a lesbian couple about seven years ago. Though he and Fredrik live on a different continent, the pair still make sure to spend as much time with Kai as they can.
In August 2016, Fredrik — who first learned that David had a son during Season 5 of the hit Bravo series — joked that he was “already a father” while hanging out with Kai before a day of shopping in NYC. “Day 2: on our way to the LEGO store!” he captioned a pic of himself and Kai cuddled in the backseat of a car. “The rule is Kai can have any- and all he wants in the store as long as he can carry it all to the cash register with his two arms. ? #AlreadyAFather ❤️”
