Floyd Mayweather Jr. Demands Alleged Vegas Assault Victim Pay His Legal Fees

Floyd Mayweather Jr. denied he ordered his entourage to attack a man who filmed him jogging with a woman in the early morning, In Touch can exclusively report.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Floyd, 47, asked a Las Vegas judge to throw out all claims brought by a man named William Rodriguez-Mercado in his answer to the complaint.

Floyd denied all allegations of wrongdoing in the suit.

He argued that any damages William suffered “resulted solely from the negligence, assumption of risk, or other culpable conduct of [William] or others without” Floyd contributing.

Floyd asked that William not be awarded a dime and the man be ordered to pay his legal fees in the case.

As In Touch first reported, William filed his lawsuit against Floyd in Nevada court in July 2024.

He claimed on May 31, 2023, in the early hours of the morning, he noticed a man and a woman jogging along the sidewalk.

William said he immediately noticed the man was the famed boxer. William said he stood on the sidewalk to see Floyd training.

He said as Floyd and his female companion came near him, Floyd noticed William was filming. William said Floyd instructed the men in SUVs following him to get out and snatch William’s phone.

The suit read. “[Floyd], upon realizing that he was being filmed, became enraged and immediately confronted [William]. [Floyd], yelled to the occupants of the SUVs that, ‘HE’S FILMING. TAKE HIS F–KING PHONE. GET HIM.’”

William said multiple adult men rushed him.

He said one told him, “Nobody ever rushes the champ like that.”

The alleged victim said he was struck in the face. William said he was then knocked to the ground where he was “knocked unconscious.” He said he does not know the duration of the beating. William said Floyd watched the assault and then took off running.

In his suit, William said Floyd’s team took his phone and continued driving with him on the floor. He said after he regained consciousness he realized he was bleeding.

He said moments later a car pulled up and told him to get in or he would be killed.

William said he ran to a nearby 7-11 to call police but they never arrived. He said the car kept driving back and forth looking but eventually left. William said he suffered injuries to his “bodily limbs, organs and systems, head and face, all or some of which condition may be permanent and disabling.”

The alleged victim said he racked up medical bills and now has “limited occupational and recreational activities, which has caused and shall continue to cause [William] loss of earning capacity, lost wages, physical impairment, mental anguish, and loss of enjoyment of life, in a presently unascertainable amount.”

As In Touch first reported, Floyd is also dealing with a lawsuit brought by a man named Eduardo Andres Torres Martinez over an alleged incident at Yard House at L.A. Live on February 10, 2022.

Eduardo claimed he started filming Floyd when he arrived at the restaurant. He claimed Floyd became upset and instructed his bodyguard to attack him. Floyd denied all allegations of wrongdoing. The case is ongoing.
