‘Flip or Flop’ Divorce: Christina El Moussa Says She Still Love Ex Tarek

Flip or Flop star Christina El Moussa took to Instagram to gush over her reality TV team — including her estranged husband Tarek!

“I’ve never met a group of more positive, fun-loving, funny… all-around amazing guys,” she captioned the shot. “Filming seven seasons of Flip or Flop has been a breeze because of them. I [love] each and every one of you.”

The decision to keep filming the reality show came after HGTV threatened to sue the couple for breach of contract if they abandoned their successful home-flipping show because of their impending divorce.

“This is getting really ugly,” a network source previously told In Touch. “HGTV is livid with Tarek and Christina. Flip or Flop just won’t be the same if they’re not together, so execs desperately want them to reunite to save the show. If they can’t do that, the network wants them to make it seem like they’re getting along at least until their contract is over. They were given an ultimatum: Either finish out your contracts or we’ll take you to court [for breach of contract].”

While the two may be saving face for the sake of their show and their brand, things aren’t exactly going great behind closed doors — partially because of Christina’s relationship with Gary, who was first hired by the couple as a contractor to work on their pool.

“It’s hard for Tarek to see Christina dating, but it’s even worse that Gary is the guys she’s with,” an insider tells In Touch, exclusively. “There’s nothing that could be more upsetting to Tarek than to see her with a guy who is like him but better — and that’s Gary. He’s in the same industry as Tarek, but he’s older and more established and has more money.”

They were hit so hard by the 2008 recession, they were practically broke.

The couple, who were both successful real estate agents at the time, had to downsize from their $6,000 a month mortgage home to a $700 a month rental, which they shared with a roommate.

"I will never forget going to Subway to split $5 footlongs from Subway because that is (sic) all we could afford," Tarek wrote on Facebook in 2016.

They had their car stolen while filming an episode of Flip or Flop.

"You can’t imagine the feeling I got when I was standing outside one of our flip houses, talking to Tarek about what color to paint the garage and I heard my car start," Christina wrote in a blog post. "It was the middle of the day, and I’d just pulled up to the worksite and parked in front of the house. I put my purse on the front porch and didn’t think about what a huge mistake I was making. While Tarek and I were talking, a guy literally grabbed my keys from my purse and drove off in our SUV."

Their Success Path real estate seminars came under controversy when fans accused the programs of being a scam.

Their seminars, promoted as real estate workshops to teach people about the house flipping business, came under fire in 2015 when fans who attended the seminars said they were disappointed, not only because Christina and Tarek didn't make an appearance, but also because they were pressured into buying pricey real estate courses that cost them between $2,000-$5,000.

They had to cancel their house-flipping events in Oregon after fans protested on social media.

Locals thought the couple's seminar was insensitive to the current real estate crisis.
"We cancelled the Success Path training tour through Oregon and Washington due to a vocal group who somehow linked us to the issue of affordable housing," Christina said in a statement. "We are very accustomed to being on the receiving end of people's opinions. My hairstyles, my mothering, and my interior design choices in flip houses — all are discussed."
