So much for sisterhood. Farrah Abraham’s older sister, Ashley Danielsen, opened up in a new interview about her relationship (or lack thereof, actually) with the Teen Mom OG star. According to Ashley, she and Farrah, 26, have had little to no contact within the last four years.
Chatting with The Ashley for a story published on Tuesday, Aug. 8, the Nebraska native revealed that she and Farrah were unable to repair their friendship after the 16 and Pregnant alum was arrested for a DUI on St. Patrick’s Day 2013.
In case you forgot, Farrah placed the blame for her arrest on Ashley, telling In Touch, “I was out with my sister. I did not plan to drink because I was sick, so I took the role of being in charge and making sure my sister and I would return home together and safely. At 10 p.m., I tried to leave, and at that time, my sister was not ready to leave, so I had been sipping on drinks to pass the time.”

Since then, Ashley has kept her distance from Farrah. “It’s very rare [that I speak to her],” she told The Ashley. “I have a full schedule and I’m assuming she probably does too. Children, work, sports, appointments, school, etc… Life just gets in the way.”
Years after Farrah gave birth to her daughter, Sophia, now 8, in February 2009, Ashley started a family of her own. She gave birth to a girl named Sylvia in 2012, and welcomed a son named Axl in 2015. Ashley said that the most heartbreaking part of her tense relationship with Farrah is the fact that her kids haven’t been able to bond with Sophia.
“I don’t get to spend any time with Sophia,” Ashley said. “I think that’s the part that makes me the saddest. Our family was very close growing up. We were with our cousins almost every day. I think it’s sad that my kids won’t have that relationship with Sophia.”
Still, Ashley is close to her mom, Debra, and even keeps in touch with her former stepfather and Farrah’s dad, Michael. “I hear from Michael here and there,” she said. “Not very often, but like everything else, I just think busy schedules get in the way.”
Ashley — who appeared on early episodes of Teen Mom, and recently declined to participate in WE tv’s Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars: Family Edition with Farrah and her mother — explained why she is no longer interested in being on TV.
“Once you’re on a network like MTV, which is worldwide, your entire life changes,” Ashley said. “You can’t go into public without people recognizing you, strangers send you friend requests and messages, and you basically lose your privacy. I’m a very private person. I have a small circle of friends and family that I choose to spend my time and energy on, I don’t want that interfered with.”
The mom-of-two added, “I value my privacy and the privacy of my children. I don’t feel it’s a productive use of my time. I really don’t care to be on camera. Time is money and they don’t pay me enough to be a part of that mess!”
