Uh, does Derick Dillard have a job? It’s been a constant source of conversation for fans of the Duggar family, and now it’s come up again. Though he recently started law school, he may also have something else in the works. Or at least that’s what his wife Jill Duggar‘s latest Instagram post would have you think.

“Love this man!” she wrote on the social media site. “He gets up early to head out before traffic gets bad, works all day, then comes home after most people and puts out more energy to invest in our boys and me!” She also continued on, writing, “@derickdillard you’re still my fave! #forevermine❤️#manofmydreams #youvegotmyheart #imsoinlove #thankyou #gratefulwifey.”

Fans noticed that, while she did mention Derick going to work, she didn’t mention him going to school. So when he “works all day” like she mentions, does she just mean heading out to law school and studying for the rest of the time? Her followers had plenty of questions — and they sounded off in the comments. “Is Derick both working and studying law?” asked one Instagram user, with another adding, “Where is he working nowadays????” Others were more blunt, writing, “He doesn’t work though,” and, “Full time college is not a job! Does it pay him? No.”

Derick’s job — or lack thereof — has been an issue with fans pretty much since he and his family were kicked off Counting On. It was a much-discussed issue when he announced he was going to law school, and it also came up earlier in the summer. On July 10, the father-of-two was spotted out with his wife and sons on Cow Appreciation Day — aka free food day at Chick-fil-A — but he got dragged in the comments for being able to have a midweek chow session with his family.

“Must be nice to not work and mooch off others,” one person quipped. Another wrote, “Maybe Derick can pick up a job application while he is there?” and a third commented, “Again free food?! Might be time to get a job.” Ouch.

The former Counting On star — who was fired from the hit TLC show in November 2017 — was given the axe after he posted a series of transphobic remarks about I Am Jazz star Jazz Jennings. “What an oxymoron… a ‘reality’ show which follows a non-reality,” Derick tweeted in August. “‘Transgender’ is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it’s ordained by God.”

Since then, however, Jill claimed he was back on that 9-5 grind when she shared a snap without her hubby and wrote, “We just voted! Teaching ’em young the privilege of letting your voice be heard… and took both boys with me since Derick was at work. lol.”

Still, no one’s quite sure WTF he does. Back in February, it was reported that the father-of-two went back to work after being unemployed for a few months. At the time, he took to Instagram to let it be known that he was hired to drive students around during a weekend of worshipping at the Student Leadership University’s Lift Tour 2018. Of course, that wasn’t exactly a full-time gig. Moral of the story? His so-called “work” is still a mystery.
