The Duggars and social media are like apples and oranges — they don’t exactly go together. By now, you probably know that the Counting On stars abide by a number of strict rules — one of which includes no social media until an engagement. Hmm… perhaps that’s why the men tend to pop the question so soon after courting!

According to Radar Online, “Considering the family’s faith-based beliefs regarding dating and modesty, it wouldn’t come as a surprise that the Duggars are only allowed to be on Snapchat and other social media platforms under certain conditions.” In other words, while most people tend to use Snapchat to send, ahem, naughty photos or detail a drive-thru order from McDonald’s at 4 a.m., the Duggar’s ultra-conservative beliefs don’t exactly align with what the platform is often used for.

In their 2014 book titled Growing Up Duggar, the oldest Duggar girls — Jill, Jana, Jessa, and Jinger — explained why it’s important to stay away from Snapchat, Instagram, and other social media. “Personally, we are very careful not to text, email, or communicate over the Internet with guys on a personal, intimate level,” the girls wrote. “Instead it is wise to keep these interactions businesslike.” Well, that’s no fun!

However, it wouldn’t surprise us if a few members of the famous fam have secret accounts. These days, many of the youngsters have been busting out from under Jim Bob‘s tight reign. Jinger — and even his wife, Michelle! — have been rockin’ pants. Not to mention, Jill got a nose ring and a tattoo. Gasp! Plus, an alleged former Duggar employee revealed John David is about to break free, too. Honestly, it sounds like it’s only a matter of time before all 19 kids have their own usernames.
