On Sept. 7, up-and-coming rapper Dex Osama, 29, was shot dead outside a strip club in Detroit.
Following his death, Meek Mill — who had not only recently signed the artist, but also mentored him — paid tribute to the late 29-year-old in an emotional Instagram tribute.
Nicki Minaj’s fiancé, 28, wrote, “Damn RIP YOUNGIN..... Had a lot of talks with you about getting out them streets and chasing ya dreams! I really believed in you and seen you putting on for Detroit! RIP @dex_osama for all my fellow young kings coming up tryna make it out, take ya time and think about where you want ya life to go! MAY GOD BLESS HIS SOUL! Never let them streets shatter ya dreams!!! [sic]”
Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody told the Detroit Free Press that two groups of men got into an altercation before the rapper was shot twice, once in the chest and once in the stomach, while leaving Crazy Horse gentleman’s club on Monday night.
Sgt. Woody said, "The argument was moved outside, at which point a suspect drew his weapon, shooting the victim who fled. He ultimately collapsed at a nearby gas station. He was conveyed to hospital where he was [pronounced] dead on arrival."
Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
