Derick Dillard Slammed for Using Fundraiser Money on Mission Trip to the White House

Derick Dillard can’t catch a break — and rightfully so, honestly. The Counting On star has seen his fair share of controversies recently, but this one may just take the cake. Well, it’s at least up there. On Oct. 12, the father-of-two took to Instagram to reveal that he took a trip to the White House, and the Facebook page Duggar Family News: Life Is Not All Pickles and Hairspray claims he did so on the public’s dime. As a result, many people slammed the 28-year-old’s “mission” trip.

“So this is the ‘mission’ trip Derick was talking about on his fundraiser that got removed for violations of terms of use?” the Facebook post reads. “DerJill and Sam visited DC this week with the Cross Church School of Wizardry… I mean Ministry. How did Derick pay for this trip? I’m sure he didn’t pull up his own bootstraps.”

Back in August, the reality star family was asking for handouts after they left their El Salvador ministry. “BIG NEWS! For the next year, I will be serving through a program at my home church, called the Cross Church School of Ministry!” He wrote. “I am so excited about this incredible opportunity for further ministry development, and I would like to invite you to share in this excitement with me.” Notice, he left out specifics.

One person commented on Instagram, “It’s our business if it’s the taxpayers’ money he’s using or if I were to donate, I want to know how it’s being used and not for expensive steaks or out to dinner. But of course, I would never give this phony any of my money. Get a job and earn it.” Another added, “Make sure next time you go on your mission trip you tell the kids your feeding that you support a man that doesn’t want their a– in the United States.” A third, however, simply thinks people just need to relax. “People chill out; it’s a picture. You don’t have to get butthurt by every little thing.”
