The bully becomes the victim? Just one week after former Counting On star and bully Derick Dillard took to Twitter to spread a hateful, homphophic message about TLC stars Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent — where he said the Nate & Jeremiah by Design stars have a "travesty" of a family because they are a same-sex couple raising two children together — he got some heat on national TV. The hosts of ABC's The View discussed Derick's tweet and they all slammed his bigoted views, and Derick took to his favorite social media platform to complain that he was being bullied.

"Really?! Are my friends on The View really going to be our standard & champion for open-mindedness?" Derick tweeted. "Conviction doesn’t equal lack of open mindedness. We need to love all people [and] promote what’s best for everyone. Most Americans believe this, but are fearful of bullying like this."

He shared a clip of the segment where the hosts each took a turn to explain why they don't agree with Derick's views. "Who is this guy?" Whoopi Goldberg asked, and her co-host Joy Behar explained that he’s a Duggar in-law. "You’re an outlaw now. You should stop man, stop. You don’t have to agree with anybody’s lifestyle, but you’re not living in their house just like we don’t live in a house where there are 900 kids and that’s what you guys are celebrating on your show."

Co-host Sunny Hostin also explained why she thinks Derick feels the way he does about same-sex couples and why he seems to not be accepting of modern family dynamics. "I think it comes from people who lack empathy and who haven’t been around gay couples," she said. "When you hear from people like this, it’s because they haven’t opened up their hearts and their minds and their eyes to experience people that are different than they are."
