Derick Dillard’s Picture Of 3 Little Kids Has Fans Wondering Who That Other Baby Is
Uhhh, who’s that kid? That was the question on a ton of Duggar family fans’ minds when they looked at Derick Dillard‘s Instagram picture of three little boys. Two of them were pretty instantly recognizable as his sons Israel and Samuel, but the third boy, well, not so much. The youngest of the three, an infant, was basically a mystery. “Who is the baby?” asked one fan, with another writing, “Who’s baby is this? I am confused.”
Fans also had guesses, though they weren’t necessarily right guesses. “Israel, Samuel, and Gideon?” wrote one commenter. Finally another got it right on the money: “Sorry that’s a Dillard kid….thought it was Gideon.” Luckily, Derick’s caption also helped clear things up. “The Dillard cousins all together for the first time!” he wrote.
While fans could still be reasonably confused about when one of Jill Duggar‘s siblings snuck another baby into the fam, it’s worth noting that the caption doesn’t say Duggar cousins, it says Dillard cousins. Recently, Derick’s brother Dan started a family of his own when he and wife Deena Dillard welcomed their new son Jaxon Michael. Born on Sept. 5, Jaxon’s only a few weeks old, but it’s clear he’s going to have plenty of fun one day with his big cousins.
This isn’t the first time there’s been confusion over a new baby joining the Dillard family. Two weeks ago, Derick posted a quote to his Instagram and added the caption, “The Dillard family is growing!” Needless to say, fans thought that he meant his Dillard family. And sure, technically his Dillard family did grow with the addition of a nephew, but you can excuse the confusion over the fact that it wasn’t his new addition.
Jill’s recent post about her nephew confused fans, too. “So excited for another Dillard baby!!” she wrote on Instagram with a picture of a newborn all swaddled up. If you read further, you’d notice that she congratulated Dan and Deena and hashtagged the post #firstDillardcousin and #jaxonmichaeldillard, but we get that a first glance could throw you off.
Though Counting On fans are always eager for more baby announcements from the Duggars (or the Dillards or the Seewalds, etc), right now it seems that the family is actually free of pregnancies. Unless one hasn’t been announced yet (after all, Lauren Swanson could have a honeymoon baby just like some of her sisters-in-law), we may be done with babies for a minute. Jill and Jessa Duggar both seem to have their hands full with two kids in their toddler years, and Jinger Duggar, Kendra Caldwell, and Joy-Anna Duggar all welcomed babies in the last year. Anna Duggar‘s youngest only just celebrated his first birthday, and she’s already got four other kids.
If you’re looking for more Duggar grandchildren, well, you may have to wait a minute. But don’t worry too much. It seems like we’ll be seeing plenty of the new Dillard baby — and he’s just as much a cousin to Israel and Sam as the rest of the brood.
