Sorry, Derick Dillard, but it’s time to “grow up!” Er, at least according to several fans. The former Counting On star — who was fired from the hit TLC show last year due to his transphobic remarks on Jazz Jennings — is currently enrolled in law school, but people just don’t think that’s good enough. The 29-year-old shared a photo of himself and wrote in the caption, “So this is basically my view if I’m not either sleeping or in class… #backtoschool #arkansas.” Watch the video above to see the photo he posted.

Almost immediately, people began commenting on the pic, with many telling him his focus should be on getting a job. “You have a degree that would get you a decent job to support your family,” one person wrote. “Instead, you are chasing this whim so you once again can avoid actually having to get a job and leave poor Jill to support you and look after the children full-time. Time to grow up.” Another agreed, writing, “You should be spending time at a job site and supporting your family. You can always go to law school at night like plenty of other people do. It is time for you to grow up.” Ouch!

Unfortunately, the criticism didn’t stop there. A third person chimed in, “Hopefully he’s filling out job applications while he’s there instead of just laying his bony spine around the house to collect dust while Jill’s legs keep spreading and the bills stack higher and higher!” A fourth, however, was more concerned about the photo itself. “Do most law students take this many pictures of themselves? Or are they too busy living their lives?”

Derick earned his undergraduate degree at Oklahoma State University in 2011, according to his LinkedIn, and worked for a brief time as a Tax Accountant at Walmart. After getting the boot from TLC, though, he hasn’t had a steady paycheck. In fact, one of his jobs was literally shuffling around students during a weekend of worshipping at the Student Leadership University’s Lift Tour 2018.

In other words, we’re not sure how exactly the family-of-four is still able to afford those mid-afternoon Chick-fil-A excursions. Surely, Jill Duggar‘s new role as a social media influencer can’t pay that much.
