What a name! Katy Perry and fiancé Orlando Bloom announced the birth of their first child, daughter Daisy Dove Bloom on Wednesday, August 26. Naturally, we’re so obsessed with the sweet newborn’s name — so we decided to dig deeper into the origins and meaning of the title.
Daisies are the symbol of innocence and new beginnings, according to FlowerMeanings.org, while doves symbolize peace and love. Of course, fans of Katy’s will know she released a song titled “Daisies” in 2020 before welcoming the little one, making the moniker extra special. Plus, Daisy fits perfectly with her last name, Bloom!
It’s really sweet to see the proud mom and dad enjoying their new baby girl. In fact, an insider told Life & Style exclusively that Orlando, 43, was “all about taking in the smaller moments” during the pop star’s pregnancy in March. “He’s rubbing Katy’s belly and singing softly to their baby,” the source gushed. “He massages her feet, rubs her shoulders, pampers her as much as he can.”
Despite the exciting addition to their sweet family, the couple doesn’t seem to be running toward the aisle any time soon. Another insider revealed to LS the same month that they’re definitely committed to one another, whether there is a marriage license in the picture or not.
“They both were on the same page about putting off marriage, especially Orlando,” the second source explained. “He’s been honest about saying he’s been down that road and didn’t want to do it again. Katy’s been burned, too. She was afraid of marriage, but her heart has shifted, especially with the baby coming. But right now, it’s all about bringing this little one into the world.”
Clearly, the proud parents feel their love is strong enough on its own. “They’re together, they’re committed and a piece of paper can’t change their feelings for each other,” the insider continued. “In fact, from both of their experiences, it might change things.”
One thing’s for sure, it could never change their love for Daisy and her adorable name!
