She’s having a hard time letting go.

Courtney Stodden has confirmed her split from husband Doug Hutchison after nearly six years of marriage — but the reality star says their breakup is difficult and she isn’t ready to fully move on from their relationship. The couple has been legally separated for two months, but they haven’t signed divorce papers yet.

“I’m also trying to take things slow because I love him and it’s really hard on him,” the 22-year-old told People. “It’s extremely sensitive.”

The blonde bombshell made headlines in 2011 when she married the actor when he was 51 and she was only 16 years old. The couple experienced backlash because they had a huge age gap in between them and eventually, the couple’s age difference started to cause problems in their marriage. The former Mother/Daughter Experiment: Celebrity Edition star said that their issues started to develop slowly until she reached her breaking point.

“I think it just kind of started to develop over time, realizing that maybe we need to separate and go our separate ways to find our individual happiness because we went through so much as a couple and the past six years have been beautiful crazy ups and downs,” she explained. “But then, a lot of times, when a couple experiences too much it can weigh too heavily on each individual.”

One of their experiences included suffering through a heartbreaking miscarriage last summer, just two months after announcing that they were expecting their first child together. Courtney said that the miscarriage affected them “deeply.”

“It was very challenging to go through that as a couple,” she said. “But I feel like we really unified through those times, and he was there for me as my rock when nobody else was. So it kind of makes it that much harder for me to follow through with the split.”
