She’s moving on. More than two years after late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington’s death, his widow, Talinda Bennington, is engaged. The 42-year-old took to Instagram on Friday, September 6, to announce her engagement to a man named Michael, and she made sure to honor her late husband in her sweet post.

“Dear #Family, I am overjoyed to announce my engagement to my angel on earth, Michael F.,” Talinda wrote on Instagram. “I am here to tell you that you can find love after tragedy. That a death of a soulmate does not mean the death of you. My family, friends and my Linkin Park brothers welcome him to the family with open arms.”

But even though Talinda is moving on and remarrying, she made it clear that she will not forget her late husband. “I will continue to honor Chester and continue my life‘s mission to make his passing not in vain,” she continued. “To all suicide loss survivors, you CAN be happy again. You CAN have space in your heart for grief, joy, happiness, sadness and love. Thank you for ALL of your continued love and support.”

Chester’s former Linkin Park bandmate, Mike Shinoda, commented on Talinda’s post and shared his support. “I’ve already congratulated you both in person, but congrats again, ha! All our love and support!” he wrote.

But there were some fans who judged Talinda because they felt she had moved on too quickly. “Kinda quick don’t u [sic] think,” one person wrote and another commented, “It would take more than two years to get over my soulmate, That’s for dayum [sic] sure.”

Talinda’s husband passed away on July 20, 2017, at just 41 years old. His cause of death was ruled a suicide by hanging. Since then, Talinda help found the 320 Changes Direction organization, which aims to change the stigma about mental health, mental illness, and wellness and to help streamline access to programs that can help.

If you or someone you know is in emotional distress or considering suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
