Gone, but not forgotten. Chester Bennington‘s widow, Talinda Bennington, took to social media with a sentimental tribute on March 20 to celebrate what would have been the singer’s 43rd birthday. She addressed the monumental impact he’s made on so many lives including her own.

“Happy birthday! You made the world brighter from the moment you were born,” Talinda began. “You gave me the world with your love and children. For that, I can never repay you. I pray you are dancing in Heaven. The kids and I are privately celebrating you today by doing your [favorite] family activities.”

The Linkin Park singer sadly committed suicide at the young age of 41 on July 20, 2017 and his untimely passing devastated fans around the world. Chester’s death especially broke the hearts of his wife Talinda, their son and twin daughters as well as his three children from previous relationships. Shortly after the heartbreaking news was announced, Talinda shared an emotional statement on social media revealing how she was coping with the unfathomable pain.

“One week ago, I lost my soulmate and my children lost their hero — their Daddy,” Talinda wrote at the time. “We had a fairytale life and now it has turned into some sick Shakespearean tragedy,” she continued, before addressing how she planned to move forward with her life. “How do I pick up my shattered soul? The only answer I know is to raise our babies with every ounce of love I have left.”

On March 20, Linkin Park posted an image of the late singer to celebrate his birthday. Back in 2018, they also shared a thoughtful message on the anniversary of his passing. “To our brother Chester, It has been a year since your passing — a surreal rotation of grief, heartbreak, refusal, and recognition. And yet it still feels like you are close by, surrounding us with your memory and your light,” it read.

Our thoughts are with his friends, family and loved ones.
