Little People, Big World fans were shocked when long-time couple Matt Roloff and Amy Roloff announced their decision to divorce in 2015. How Did Matt Roloff and Caryn Chandler Meet?
Before they were a couple, Caryn was a long-time farm manager at Roloff Farms and the pair had a “great working relationship.” The pair began dating just months after his divorce from Amy was finalized in 2016.
“Caryn and I have developed a great friendship over the years,” the Against All Odds author told producers in a confessional at the start of their relationship in 2017. “Her sense of logic and my sense of logic are very compatible.”
Does Caryn Chandler Have Kids?
While Matt shares Zach Roloff, Jeremy Roloff, Molly Roloff and Jacob Roloff with Amy, Caryn has kids of her own. The Oregon resident is a mother to her adult children Brittany and Connor.
The Relationship Had A Controversial Start
While Amy and Matt’s divorce was a surprise to the world, Amy alleged in her 2019 memoir that Matt was involved with Caryn during their marriage.
“Matt was spending more and more time at the tavern he often frequented in the evenings after filming and working on the farm, and our farm manager seemed to be around more and more often as well. What, if anything, was going on?” Amy described in her book. “Then it dawned on me. Matt and our farm manager, who had been working for us a number of years by then, seemed to have more than just a working relationship or friendship.”
Matt later denied the cheating claims in a comment to a fan. “You couldn’t be further [from] the truth],” he wrote in July 2019.
Matt and Caryn Share A Lot in Common
The patriarch said that his similarities with Caryn were something his marriage to Amy lacked.
“I had to do a lot of soul-searching and think about what I, you know, really wanted in life. Caryn offers me great companionship and I think Caryn and I enjoy the same sort of social settings,” he explained in a 2017 confessional. “We enjoy each other’s company and friendship and companionship. Maybe Amy and I didn’t have that. It’s different. This is, you know, a really neat person, that’s full of life and I think she’s cute.”
Matt and Caryn Live Part-time in Arizona Together
Matt and Caryn both call Oregon their primary residence but the pair spend half their time in Caryn’s native state of Arizona.
While the TLC duo can’t bear to be away from their many grandchildren for “more than a few weeks at a time,” Matt admitted farm life has gotten “tiresome.”
“I do enjoy the heat and the low humidity, so I bought a house down here. It’s kind of an investment property and something to play around with,” he shared of their Arizona plans in 2018 via Facebook Live. “Instead of going to hotels and staying at different places, I can have one location very conducive to my short stature.”
When visiting their southwest home, the pair’s daily activities include shopping, hanging out in the back patio or visiting Caryn’s parents — who happen to live a mile and a half away.
Caryn and Amy Remain Cordial
Despite some major awkwardness, Caryn has developed a friendship with Matt’s ex-wife. While Caryn and Matt have even hosted Amy and her new husband, Chris Marek, in their Arizona getaway, Amy admitted it’s “not easy” for her to visit her former husband in their new shared home.
“There’s just too much history for me,” the mom of four told producers in June 2022. “It is my ex. It is his girlfriend, and I don’t wanna pretend, or put on a facade that this is happy-go-lucky and nothing has happened.”
