Thank you, next! On Monday, May 6, Busy Philipps revealed that her E! talk show, Busy Tonight, was cancelled after six months on air, and the blonde beauty did not hold back. At the beginning of the same night’s episode, the 39-year-old gave a shout-out to the Critics’ Choice Real TV Awards for nominating her in the Show Host category.

“I’ll be there because, turns out, I’m f–king free,” the Cougar Town alum told the camera, referring to how she’ll be able to attend the awards show after all.

On Monday morning, the mom-of-two told her Twitter followers the bad news. “Hey guys. Just wanted to let you know my show Busy Tonight won’t be continuing on the E! network after May 16,” she wrote on social media. “I’m beyond proud of what we’ve built in such a short period of time, and I’m hopeful we can find the right place for the show to live on. Goodnight, you guys. I love you.”

Later that same day, the This Will Only Hurt a Little author was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Real TV Awards along with RuPaul Charles, James Corden, Stephen Colbert and Jerry Seinfeld.

“Well, this is a f–king WILD turn of events this morning,” the Illinois native wrote on Twitter along with a screenshot of the nominations. “I was just nominated for @CriticsChoice Real TV Awards for Show Host. THANK YOU.”

She added on Instagram, “You know I strongly dislike when people post tweets to Insta, but ALL BETS ARE OFF TODAY. Thank you @CriticsChoice for my nomination. It couldn’t have come at a better time.”

A E! spokesperson confirmed the news to In Touch. “Busy Tonight’s last episode for E! will air Thursday, May 16, with a special celebratory half hour,” the statement read. “Busy is a hilarious and charismatic talent and we are grateful to the entire Busy Tonight team who has delivered countless laughs and heartwarming moments in what will be over 100 episodes.”

Naturally, many of her loyal followers were upset that this happened. One person wrote, “Literally, I never watch E! other than Busy,” while another echoed, “WTH is that about? My highlight of the day is @BusyTonightTV!” A third person fumed, writing, “That’s so disappointing! I hope the show lands somewhere safe soon.”

Even celebrities had Busy’s back. “This is total bulls–t, and the E! network is so dumb for doing this. This show should be somewhere that appreciates it,” Ike Barinholtz wrote. Debra Messing sent her love via Twitter, writing, “Oh Busy, I’m so sorry. That is a huge disappointment, especially because you created something that was uplifting, joyous, original and uniquely yours. Congratulations and thank you. I hope your show finds a new place to shine on, but if not, celebrate what you made and feel the love. xx.”

Keep your head up, girl! We have a feeling this isn’t the end of your talk show career.
