Britney Spears Checks Into a Wellness Center Amid Father’s Health Problems

It sounds like she’s having a really rough time. Britney Spears checked into a wellness center for mental health in the midst of her dad’s illness, multiple sources confirmed to In Touch. The 37-year-old singer has been very upset about her dad’s health issues, and the move may not come as a total shock to her fans.

On January 4, Britney revealed that her dad’s colon ruptured and he almost died. A Spears family insider told In Touch exclusively on April 3 that, “Britney was losing it, she’s not coping with the fact that her dad isn’t going to make it. She had a breakdown.” They added that Jamie Spears “actually convinced her to check into a place.”

On the same day the news broke that the singer checked into the wellness center, Britney shared a post to Instagram indicating that she was taking a little break. “We all need to take time for a little ‘me time.’ :)” she captioned an image that read, “Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body and spirit.” It was one of only two updates she’s made since canceling her shows — the other celebrated the 20-year anniversary of her album … Baby One More Time.

The “Toxic” singer began the Instagram post sharing news of her dad’s ill health in January, “I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it’s important to always put your family first … and that’s the decision I had to make.”

The entertainer continued, “A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. An insider told Radar Online on January 8 that when it comes to dealing with her father’s health, Britney, “is back and forth to Louisiana, but she is not doing great by any means. You can see it on her face.” They added that her dad’s medical complications have “really taken a toll on her.” We really hope Britney finds some measure of peace within the middle of all this turmoil.
