They’ve come a long way! Recently, Briana DeJesus and her ex Devoin Austin reunited to celebrate their daughter Nova’s birthday, and things got pretty cute. When we first met the couple on Teen Mom 3 back in 2013, they had plenty of tension between them. Lately, though, it seems like the parents have learned how to put their drama behind them, especially for the sake of their child. They did just that when they all got together to sing happy birthday, marvel over Nova’s birthday cake, and take her out for a special meal at the American Girl Place. Check out the too-cute family and how well they’re getting along in the video above.

Mending this relationship has been a long time coming, but luckily, Briana and Devoin have been putting in the work. In addition to coming together for Nova’s birthday, they’ve been doing better as coparents and friends in general. Briana even had Devoin move back in for a while earlier this year after her surgery (and her break up with Javi Marroquin). Not only was he helping take care of Nova, he also helped out with Stella, Briana’s younger daughter with another ex-boyfriend. That’s not just a responsible thing to do when your kid needs your help, it’s an incredibly kind thing to do for your ex.

Contrast that with all the drama we used to deal with and it’s a huge improvement. Back in the day, things got so bad between the Teen Mom star and her baby daddy that Briana’s mom even tried to take legal action. After one particular blowout, Roxanne DeJesus filed a request for protection order with the court, alleging, “He is very intimidating and after researching him, I see his background of guns, fighting, postings on Facebook, drugs, weapons and violence… I am in fear for my safety and my family’s.”

We’re glad to see that the couple has been able to come together as friends and parents, and that they made sure that Nova had the best 7th birthday ever, no matter what kind of history they share.
