One day at a time. Brad Pitt’s son Maddox Jolie-Pitt “still has issues” with the actor months after he spoke out about their distant relationship, a source tells In Touch exclusively. The Once Upon a Time alum is currently looking forward to spending Christmas with some of his children and he’s optimistic his bond with Maddox will improve in the future.

On the bright side, the A-list star, 55, isn’t holding any grudges against his son, 18. “He feels he has a different relationship with all his kids,” the insider tells In Touch exclusively. “Of course, Maddox still has some issues with him, but from what I’ve heard their relationship is a work in progress and Brad is very hopeful.”

Back in September, Maddox opened up for the first time about their connection, or lack thereof. He was spotted at the Yonsei University in Incheon, South Korea, where he is enrolled and was asked if his famous father was going to be visiting.

“Um, I don’t know about that … what’s happening,” the Cambodian born teen said. When questioned if their relationship was over for good, Maddox told In Touch, “Whatever happens, happens,” but it looks like Brad isn’t going to give up that easy.

Earlier this month, the actor spoke out about the impact that his six children have on him. “I hadn’t cried in, like, 20 years, and now I find myself, at this latter stage, much more moved — moved by my kids, moved by friends, moved by the news,” the movie star told Anthony Hopkins for Interview magazine. “Just moved. I think it’s a good sign.”

Luckily, it looks like Brad and his ex-wife Angelina Jolie, 44, are finally setting aside their baggage, years after she filed for divorce in 2016. “Talk about water under the bridge,” another source told In Touch while talking about his Xmas plans.

“Brad’s getting Shiloh and the twins, Knox and Vivienne for part of the holiday,” the insider dished. “Christmas Eve with them will be an amazing test, and he’s hoping they go back to their mom with some great memories. And the other good news is that it won’t be monitored by the courts, so it’s just Brad and the kids, just like the old days.”
