2003

The couple met on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2003 while Brad was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Although they tried to keep their attraction under wraps, their love blossomed.

"I think a few months in I realized, 'God, I can't wait to get to work,' " she told Vogue in 2006. "Anything we had to do with each other, we just found a lot of joy in it together and a lot of real teamwork. We just became kind of a pair."

2005

After finalizing his divorce from ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, Brad was later spotted on vacation with Angelina and Maddox, Angelina's adopted son from a previous relationship. It was clear the couple had their attention focused on family.

"[Maddox] just out of the blue called him Dad," she told Vogue in 2006. "It was amazing. So that was probably the most defining moment, when he decided that we would all be a family."

Angelina then adopted her second child, Zahara, later that year, and Brad would later adopt both children.

2006

The couple gave birth to their first child together, Shiloh, in May 2006.

"She only wants to be called John. John or Peter," Brad said on Oprah. "So it’s a Peter Pan thing. So we’ve got to call her John. ‘Shi, do you want…’ – ‘John. I’m John.’ And then I’ll say, ‘John, would you like some orange juice?’ And she goes, ‘No!’ So, you know, it’s just that kind of stuff that’s cute to parents and it’s probably really obnoxious to other people.”

2006

The couple walked their first red carpet together as a couple in Dec. 2006 at the NYC premiere of The Good Shepherd.

2007

A few months after giving birth to Shiloh, the couple adopted their third child, Pax, then three-years-old, from Vietnam.

"You can imagine what courage it takes to be in all new surroundings with new people and a new language," Angelina told Hello! magazine back in 2007. "He is very strong. He is a very serious, very sweet little boy."

2008

The couple gave birth to twins, Knox and Vivienne, in Aug. 2008 in France.

"We weren't expecting twins," Angelina said. "So it did shock us, and we jumped to six [children] quickly. But we like a challenge."

2009

Five years into their relationship and things were still going strong. "She’s still a bad girl, delightfully so," Brad said on CBS This Morning. "It’s not for public consumption."

2011

Brad revealed on Ellen that he was considering marriage now, thanks to his children.

"The kids are putting on the heat. They really are," he said in Sept. "How do you I get out of this one? Somebody help me. I don't know what the future holds."

2012

In April, Angelina was spotted with a $250,000 diamond engagement ring designed by Brad. "Yes, it's confirmed. It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy," Brad's manager said. "There's no date set at this time."

2013

In April, Angelina penned an op-ed that revealed that she underwent a preventive double mastectomy.

"I am fortunate to have a partner, Brad Pitt, who is so loving and supportive," she wrote. "So to anyone who has a wife or girlfriend going through this, know that you are a very important part of the transition. Brad was at the Pink Lotus Breast Center, where I was treated, for every minute of the surgeries. We managed to find moments to laugh together. We knew this was the right thing to do for our family and that it would bring us closer. And it has."

2014

The couple finally tied the knot in a low-key ceremony in Aug. 2015.

"We got married with our [six] children, and they were part of the ceremony," Angelina said in a NBC interview. "It was all of us agreeing to be together and to just commit to this life together. Not because we had to . . . because we were absolutely sure we felt that much of a family."

2015

The couple attended the By the Sea premiere in Nov. 2015 with zero signs of any impending trouble. The film was their first on-screen collaboration in 10 years.

"Brad and I have our issues, but if the characters were even remotely close to our problems we couldn't have made the film," she said."To be clear: we have fights and problems like any other couple. We have days when we drive each other absolutely mad and want space, but the problems in the movie aren't our specific problems."

2016

Angelina filed for divorce on Sept. 20.

“Angelina will always do what’s in the best interest to protect her children,” Angie’s manager, Geyer Kosinski, said. “She appreciates everyone’s understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”
