Audrey Roloff Reveals How She Keeps Romance Alive As a New Mom, From Love Notes to Planned Intimacy
We may not get to watch Audrey Roloff and Jeremy Roloff‘s love story on Little People, Big World anymore, but it sounds like their marriage is as romantic as ever! The couple hasn’t let parenthood take the intimacy out of their relationship, and Audrey revealed in a Today Parenting Team blog post how they keep their marriage healthy.
“While there’s still plenty of romance between us nearly a year and a half after the birth of our beautiful baby girl, we’ve had to ramp up the intentionality and planning required to keep it there,” Audrey revealed candidly. To do that, they have a plan. A big one involves keeping marriage journals and going over them together weekly to work through any confrontation. But the rest of their ideas are all about the love.
“Each night, we write down one thing we appreciate, love or admire about our spouse on a little piece of paper, and we read them together before going to bed,” said Audrey. Then we stick them in a cute little mailbox we keep in our room.” Wow, can you say #RelationshipGoals?! On top of these nightly messages, they also write long love letters on each wedding anniversary, to be read one year later.
One of the most surprising tips from the couple is to disconnect from social media every night, and all day on Sundays. “We have a strict “no work or social media” policy every Sunday, and it’s a great time for us to connect as a family, refresh, rest, and make space for romance,” said Audrey.
Of course, the toughest thing to do is to get out of the house when they have a baby at home. Luckily, they have family nearby that’s happy to help, and allows them to spend time alone together. “We plan regular date nights and do our best to keep them light and fun—saving the heavy, conflict-sparking conversations for our weekly marriage journal entries,” said Audrey. “And honestly, sometimes we have to set aside time for physical intimacy. We’ve learned that it’s okay to do whatever we need to do to make sure the magic happens.” Something tells us they’ll be going strong for a looong time!
