Is it real love or fake love? According to Hollywood Life, Nicki Minaj and Drake have a “complicated” relationship — after all, they’ve broken up twice — but a source close to the pair revealed his feelings towards her may be deeper than fans realize.

“Drake loves absolutely everything about Nicki; he idolizes her,” the source said. “He thinks she’s the real deal and the complete package. He loves her looks, style, attitude, and talent. She blows him away on a regular basis!” Adorbs! Unfortunately, it’s the rappers’ strong friendship that has kept them from taking things to the next level. They’re “like family, like brother and sister,” the source continued. “But, they also flirt outrageously with each other. Drake holds Nicki on a pedestal and compares all other chicks to her. She’s his ideal woman — fierce, beautiful, cool, and smart. Drake fell in love with Nicki the very first time he met her, and he’s been mad crushing ever since.”

In May, the Degrassi alum sparked dating rumors once again with the “Starships” singer while receiving the Top Artist award at the Billboard Music Awards. He said, “I got the love of my life up here too,” referring to Nicki. He also made a point to praise her directly and added, “I want to say, Nicki Minaj — I’m so glad we found our way back because I love you and I could never ever ever see it any other way.” BRB, crying.

Yet before fans get too excited that a fairy-tale romance may be in the works, the insider was quick to squash any hope of a relationship. “If they ever decided to actually fully commit, it would probably break the spell of attraction. Like, maybe reality wouldn’t live up to the ideal… and they both know that. Maybe it’s better to keep things as they are and maintain this delicious ‘what if’ fantasy.” Sigh, does this mean Rihanna is still in the running to become Mrs. October?
