Baby steps! Married at First Sight couple Jessica Studer and Austin Hurd are “looking to expand their family” only a month after their season finished airing. While speaking exclusively with In Touch ahead of their new show, Married At First Sight: Couples’ Cam, the married duo revealed they’re ready to become parents — to a fur baby, that is.

“Austin has been looking for a dog to join our family,” Jessica says. It’s one of the many projects the couple has taken on while at home amid the coronavirus pandemic. Though the quarantine stopped them from taking all the romantic trips they dreamed about, adopting a pup is one adventure they can get started on immediately. Not only that, they’re also “starting the process of looking to buy a place” in the Washington, D.C. or Maryland area.

For now, though, they’re simply enjoying their life together — though things are a little more complicated than normal. Jess “just completed her last class for her graduate degree and will graduate with her Master’s in Nursing Administration in May,” and that means she’s working at the hospital and is away from their apartment even more than before. Meanwhile, Austin’s no longer traveling for work, which leaves him working from home. While quarantine has caused plenty of couples to clash, these two have worked out a good system so they can each have their space.

“Jess will go for runs outside or read a book in another room while Austin uses the second bedroom as his office and a chance to play computer games and connect with his friends,” the stars reveal. “Austin and I are still learning a lot about each other and, as such, we are learning how to communicate with each other best, how to support each other, and how we manage stress/tasks,” Jessica adds. “We operate on different timelines and schedules, and we are still working through learning that about each other.”

They credit the marriage counseling they did on the show with giving them a great foundation for their relationship, and they know it’s now up to them to keep putting in the work. “We are in a really good place!” they share. “We continue to learn more and more about each other and learn the reasons why we were matched! And, yes, we both say I love you!”

Married At First Sight: Couples’ Cam premieres on Lifetime May 20th at 8 p.m. ET.
